Sun, Shrines, and Spoons

It's so hot I could die. But I feel like I can't complain about it because I'm constantly complaining about the cold in England. So, um, it's delightfully temperate here. So delightfully temperate that after a few hours of walking this morning, I had to buy three litres of water and lie down in the hotel until I felt human again. And all of this before 11am. I may have to become nocturnal.

No really. Delightful.
Truth be told, though, I have missed hot weather. I like wearing a dress without having to layer it with tights, socks, jerseys, a scarf, a hat, and a jacket. It's just the being sticky and wanting to die I'm not so keen on. Maybe I'm just bad at temperature in general.

And Now for Something Completely Different

Just for a change, this week I'm in Bali.

This is exactly what Denpasar doesn't look like. (Source)
Remember how my friend Anny is getting married? Well, she's doing it in Bali. Bali. And I've managed to stop screaming long enough to purchase a ticket and get here. I will probably carry on screaming at some point, but I'm still recovering from the 18 hour journey here, and I don't have the energy. I had to save it to put on actual clothes and go and buy food that wasn't oatcakes. (No offence to oatcakes.)

Obnoxious Happiness, Adorable Puffling

01:43 Posted by Ali , , , , , No comments
I've spent the last week and a half promising "I'll update my blog tomorrow," in true procrastinator style. It was on my to-do list and everything. And then life happened. It happened quite a lot. I suspect that none of you has spent the last fortnight staring wild-eyed at my blog and hitting Ctrl+R with ever-weakening fingers, but just in case, here is a picture of the most adorable and adorably named thing in the world, to buy your forgiveness.

IT'S A MOTHERFLIPPING PUFFLING. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT THE PUFFLING. (Source)
And now, here's some of the life that keeps happening. I have to confess that I'm pretty obnoxiously happy right now.

A ha ha ha! We laugh at things!

My Big Fat Nerdy Life

Just in case anyone thought I was cool, I'm about to disabuse you of that notion. Partly because it's not true, and partly because I really like the word "disabuse".

One of my favourite games at the moment is flashcards. Yes, flashcards. Jason's studying for the GRE, which means - among other things - learning a ridiculous amount of vocabulary. Which means vocab flashcards. Which means AWESOME PARTY GAME.

This may be why I don't get invited to very many parties.

BEST PARTY EVER. (Source)
